Schools:

Engaging an enthusiastic parent, teacher and/or alumni to run each team is imperative to the success of the competition. Teams must be submitted by schools, and team managers, coaches, or parent leader need to accompany the students to all games. The competition has modified rules for ease of participation with Minkey for Years 2-4 and half-field for years 4-6. Students need to supply their own hockey stick, shin pad and mouth guard and schools must provide a ball to be used for 1 half of the game (light weight balls for Minkey).

Team Managers:

Team Managers oversee co-ordinating with the school, the Minkey coordinator, players, and parents. Fixtures will be sent to you and a team managers pack will also be included to aid you in your role. This includes Rules, Policies, and other helpful tips.

Umpires:

Umpires play a very important role in the running of Minkey Hockey. Minkey prides itself in providing a unique opportunity for bourgeoning umpires to learn in a safe environment and be mentored by more experienced umpires. An Induction night is also held before the season commences to brief umpires on the rules of Minkey and what will be expected.

History of Minkey:

Minkey Hockey was created in Australia over 40 years ago and is an adaptation of Mini-Hockey. The Adelaide Hockey Club Minkey program was commenced by Marlene Haslam approximately 30 years ago and has continued to thrive ever since. The Adelaide Hockey Club Minkey Program is the largest in SA.
